Gun Safes | If you have anymore gun safe questions

"Is there really a difference between a gun safe and a real safe? Yes, gun safes and high quality commercial safes you'd find at a pawn shop or millionaire's home are very different. The short answers is a real safes can't get broken into by a smash and grab robbery. Commercial safes that typically hold $100,000 plus worth of items are much heavier duty too. They have thick 1/4" steel bodies and sometimes even double steel 1/2" plate doors. When you have a high end gun safe with thicker steel, that means most cutting devices can't penetrate your steel body or door. You'd need a cutting torch to get in those amazing safes. And cutting device most thieves don't have when they smash your front door in and try to rip you off. So a higher quality real safe keeps about 99% of crooks out of your safe. But if you have a thin, cheap 16 gauge steel box store gun safe, any burglar with a crow bar and a few minutes can bend back the frame and pry your door open. Remember, a simple Sawzall cutting device can penetrate those thin steel walls in minutes. That's why real safes have thicker steel. To stop cutting or torch attacks. So yes, if you're going to buy a gun safe go wild and custom order steel that is 3/16" steel or thicker.

Another feature a real safe has that a gun safe doesn't have is a thick frame that prevents pry ins. If you look up gun safes on the internet, you'll watch a ton of videos showing kids break into a safes by prying the doors opens. That's why having real safe with a super thick frame is better than buying a cheap overseas gun safe. Simply put, a good gun safe frame is 3/4" or 1" thick. And sometimes even thicker. Those kinds of super wide, reinforced frames are impossible to bend.

Also, when you buy a real safe, manufactures usually make those gun safes in the USA. If you tell them exactly what you want for an interior, they'll make it exactly the way you want. If you want a gun safe with 10 guns, 20 guns, all guns or super wide side shelves to put your weapons horizontally. Just ask, and if you're buying a good quality gun safe, the manufacturers will make your interior custom at no extra cost. Just tell them about your weapons, how big or bulky your rifles are, and they're make your gun safe interior custom.

And don't forget about weight. Every year gun safes are stolen. From houses, garages, businesses, it doesn't matter. If you have a light gun safe, if it's small and light weight, it could be stolen. If you want a gun safe that can't be hauled away by two men, you want to order it over 1000lbs. The heavier the better. And don't forget to bolt it to the ground. Chances are, if you bolt down your gun safe to a concrete floor, no amount of men will have strength to rip it from your garage floor. So bigger is always better for two reasons. One, you can fit more rifles and belongings in your gun safe, which increases it's capacity. But bigger is also better because it's heavier, which will make stealing your safe a near impossibility. So don't every skimp on size when it comes to ordering your safe. I've never run into someone who bought a safe too big. Never. Most clients complain it was too small. Because as you get older, you accumulate more things. More guns. More watches. More ammo. Just more stuff. When you have a big safe, you will always fill it. So the best gun safes are the biggest gun safes for this reason. So buy as big as you can. Unless you like buying five or six safes over your lifetime. They keep buying small safes, but for the smart buyers. Find out what gun safe you want and buy the next size up. You'll thanks us one day.

And finally, the biggest difference between a gun safe and a real safe is the most surprising. It isn't the price. A cheap gun safe is around $1000. A real safe is usually only about $500 more. That's it. So when you see a gun safe for sale, try to remember you're gonna have that big or small gun safe for the rest of your life. That means if you are prorating that $500 over 30 or 40 years, you're only paying $1.05 more a month over your life for that superior safe. That means $500 will buy you a gun safe that can't be pried open and lost to most fires. The extra money is well worth it.
